Stir fried , bacon pieces, cabbage in olive oil with fresh thyme and toasted pine nuts makes a quick and satisfying supper.
To take this to another level, add grated
Parmesan, stir in then add grated
mozzarella, stir again then turn off heat and cover pan and allow to sit for 5 minutes. The cheese goes all gooey and really brings the flavours of the other ingredients together.
Tulip, we have made this many times. I usually throw in a bit of cayenne for spice and onion. Will have to try some nuts!
ReplyDeleteMrmmm, I love cabbage and so does DH it's one of our fav veggies next to taters.
ReplyDeleteI've not had regular cabbage stir fried before though, just bok choy or napa cabbage, this I will have to give a try.
Thanks for a lovely recipe Tulip.
Raquel - I have only ever used thyme in mine, but have used an onion or a leek with it to bulk it out if my cabbage has been small. Try the nuts they make all the difference. I have edited it to include the cheese. I usually do this but didn't on this particular occasion.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue - I used regular green pointy cabbage for this and its lovely, worked really well with savoy cabbage too.
Now, THAT, I could really go for! LOoks delicious!
